Why FORBES called me....
Soooo… Forbes came knocking again this past week and they wanted perspective. They wanted the kind of insight you only get from years spent in the trenches with creators, and top models, and celebrities who are actually moving culture forward.
I’ve been fortunate to work with creators like Chriselle Lim and Jenee Naylor, two brilliant women with completely different styles, but who both understand one thing deeply: strategy is everything.
Take Chriselle. She didn’t become a household name in fashion and beauty by accident. Behind every pivot (whether it was building a YouTube empire, launching Phlur, or evolving her personal brand) there was a clear, intentional strategy. I’ve seen firsthand how she treats every piece of content not as a throwaway post but as a chapter in a bigger brand narrative. We work together on this, and have been for the past decade. Forget about an audience following her… they trust her. And that currency is gold.
And Jenee is beautiful proof that you don’t need a 10-year head start to break into the luxury conversation. What makes her stand out isn’t just her impeccable style, it’s the way she threads storytelling with substance. She’s not afraid to show vulnerability, to analyze the “why” behind her work, and to bring her community along for the ride. That courage to share perspective is what catapulted her from IG squares to being one of the most exciting voices in luxury fashion.
These women embody what I told Forbes: in today’s luxury landscape, the audience is no longer buying a handbag or a moisturizer. Those days are long freakin’ gone. They’re buying into a worldview.
And this is where most creators (and even seasoned brands) fall terribly short. They obsess over perfection when the real differentiator is depth. They chase trends, and audios, and dances when the real currency is perspective.
That’s why strategy matters. Strategy is the connective tissue between your vision and your audience. It’s what makes you not just “seen,” but remembered.
