Spotlight on Angela Fink

Spotlight on Angela Fink

Working with talented and creative content-creators has always been in the forefront of my company. This is why this week I’m doing things a bit differently and shining a spotlight on Angela Fink.

As a celebrity stylist, she’s worked with Kim Kardashian, Zoe Saldana, and Kate Hudson to name a few. Now as a content-creator in her own right, you can find her sitting front row at Chanel and Hermes. So if you haven’t caught my drift, she knows a thing or two about this space. And now with her new Substack (not one to be missed!) she’s going to be sharing all her styling tips, favorite reads, and a lot more.

So let’s get to know her a little better here…

1. Angela, you've been around the styling block, and I would love to hear more about how you got started in the business. Who was the first celebrity you styled? Walk us through that project.

My first celebrity job was quite a memorable experience. It was with Maggie Gyllenhaal for Gotham magazine. As a young stylist just starting out, I focused solely on the time I needed to be there, not even checking the names on my call sheet. When I arrived, I was delighted to find that my sister was the makeup artist for the job. This was incredibly special for me, as I had always admired my sister's work and aspired to follow in her footsteps. Sharing my first job with her made it an unforgettable and cherished moment.

2. You decided to transfer that styling knowledge from "on-set" to "online" - how has the transition been for you? Do you miss being on set?

The transition from working on set to moving online happened so naturally, and there was a wonderful period of overlap as well. I loved the freedom of creating something purely for myself, sharing my own point of view, and expressing more of who I am, beyond just crafting an image for my clients. Balancing both experiences taught me so much, and that background made the online work even more rewarding. Of course, I miss the energy of the set—the collective effort of everyone working towards the same creative goal was a lot of fun. But I definitely don't miss the 15-hour days.

3. If I'm starting to build my closet and I can only buy one designer staple, what would that be and why?

If I were to start building my wardrobe all over again, I would begin with a strong shoe, whether it's a boot or a heel. A good shoe not only helps you stand a little taller but also walk with more confidence. Everything else can be thrifted or found at a lower price point, but having a reliable, high-quality shoe that you turn to season after season is truly invaluable.

4. You and I have been working together for a couple of months now, what would you say is the biggest lesson you've learned on our journey together?

What I've learned in the last few months is that it's perfectly okay to evolve, to try new things, and to shift perspectives on creativity. It's important to engage with my community and address what they're interested in. There were aspects of my life, like my past as a celebrity stylist, that I hadn't been sharing. You’ve helped me realize that this is an essential part of my story, and it deserves to be told.

5. If you could offer one piece of advice for someone starting off in the styling world, what would it be?

One piece of advice for starting out in the styling world is to embrace hard work. Don’t be afraid to put in the hours and go the extra mile; I promise you, it pays off tenfold.
