Feeling pressured by a brand to post?

Feeling pressured by a brand to post?

So here’s a story a hear often: A brand emails you excitingly offering you some gifting. You, equally as excited, accept and are looking forward to receiving your goodies. The goodies come, and then suddenly the brand won’t stop emailing you asking why you haven’t post on your grid/Reels.

What now?

First things first, realize that you are never under an obligation to post when you receive gifting from a brand. Prerogative word being, never. However, I would also never suggesHeyt an influencer to treat a brand in such a manner, especially smaller ones. H

As an influencer, anytime you accept gifting, in the back of your mind you already have to be thinking of ways you will wear, promote, and post the product. It has to come organically to you. If you feel like you can’t show any form of love, then don’t accept gifting. It’s simply not fair.

Now that I prefaced the solution to the “feeling-pressured-by-a-brand-to-post” dilemma, here’s the solution: You email them back genuinely thanking them for the gift, and tell them you’re happy to do some Stories at no charge. Then graciously send them your rate card and show them all the ways you can work together should they be looking for something more formal.

If you want an even bigger tip, I would definitely send the rate card upon the brand asking you about gifting. The email you send out can sound super friendly and professional. Here’s an example:

Hi XXX, thank you so much for offering me gifting. I absolutely love the brand and would love to accept. Just so that we’re on the same page, you wouldn’t be asking for any social requirements, correct? You’re just offering gifting (which is awesome!).

If you’re looking for guaranteed social posts, below is my rate card so you can see all the different and fun ways we can work together.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon,

YOU

See how that lays everything clear from the get-go? Believe me when I say this method of responding to gifting emails is a game-changer.
