Move over TikTok, Instagram Reels is becoming the new way a content creator/business can go viral. What gives, you ask? Instagram is no longer considering itself a photo-sharing app. Instead, it is moving quicker and quicker into the video space, which means that as a content creator, you have to as well. But how exactly does one go viral on Reels? Here are three must-do tips you can start implanting now:

  1. Use Trending Sounds: The sounds that are currently trending on Instagram will be the biggest hits for your content, hands down. While scrolling through Reels, click the music icon in the lower lefthand corner. From there, you can see how often the song has been used in videos and can save the song for later. Viral and trending songs will get you more engagement as Instagram pushes those videos out similar to TikTok.

  2. Don’t Forget to Use Captions in Video: Like your Instagram Stories, adding captions to your Reels will be a resourceful and thoughtful tool in your arsenal. A lot of people like to watch social media videos on mute so they’ll be able to keep up with what you’re doing. Also think about all the hearing impaired people on Instagram - now they too can more easily understand what is going on in the video you posted.

  3. Use hashtags and specific keywords that describe the video: When creating any content on Instagram, using very relevant and specific hashtags will boost your content to more and more people.
