How Do Influencers Get Invited to Fashion Week

How Do Influencers Get Invited to Fashion Week?

My last two blogs posts talked about how influencers get dressed and/or paid for Fashion Week, but I’m getting so many questions asking me to reveal the truth on how influencers actually get to attend in the first place.

Do they pay to attend?

How do they get fashion brands to notice and invite them?

There are a variety of ways an influencer can attend, but here are the most common:

1. They have an agency, either Public Relations, Talent Management, or Strategy (like mine), that introduces the talent to the brand and manages that relationship, including during fashion week.

2. They’re actually a shopper! It may come as a surprise but if you spend a lot during the year with a specific brand, then they might invite you as a special thank you. This has nothing to do with being an influencer. They don’t care about your social media following. They’re just extending the invite because they value your business.

3. You’re a “friend of the house.” This is the category I fall under. Because I’ve been in the industry for as long as I have and have developed so many meaningful relationships, I’m invited because they value my business and insight. A lot of “OG” influencers fall under this category as well.
