You guys LOVED the last post I did with tips for Instagram’s new algorithm update so much that I decided to do a part two.

Here is more information I received last week during my call with META…

Instagram is no longer prioritizing hashtags or keywords for maximum engagement and growth. 

What’s the new secret?

REPLAYS. 

You have to give your audience a reason to rewatch your Reels. 

Here are the top three tricks the META team shared with me so that you too can thrive:

1. HOOKS : This can be either a call to action, text on screen, or a visual hook (i.e. GIFs, movement in videos, etc.). Basically anything that “hooks” the viewer to not only continue watching your video, but read your caption and click on your website. 

2. PURPOSE : Once you have your hook, you need to ensure that you’re adding purpose/value for the viewer. What is it that they can gain from watching your content? What about your content will have the viewer wanting to press that “Follow” button and continue watching what you do?

3. CAPTION : Piggy-backing of the last point, captions are becoming increasingly more detailed in order to maximize engagement and growth. Long gone are the days of short, quirky captions. In order for you to connect with your viewers, and attract new ones, consider being more thoughtful, detailed, and purposeful when writing your captions.
