Sometimes escapism is the proverbial doctor’s note we happily welcome to help us through difficult days. So picture this: here I am in the cancer ward of a hospital in Miami when my alarm goes off. The Dior Cruise show is now live. Well then, I think to myself, let’s fly to Athens and see what magic Maria Grazia Chiuri is creating this season.
Dior’s Cruise 2022 show was set in the millennia-old, all-marble Panathenaic Stadium, framed with 72 flags and incredibly illuminated with 400 lights. The dramatic finale was fireworks brilliantly blazing about Athen’s deep blue night’s sky, as if they were not only introducing but rather welcoming a new era in fashion.
The entire collection was in fact a contemporary rethinking of the ever-famous fluid silhouettes we associate with Ancient Greek dressing. Add a dash of sporty details, and gold-accented sneakers, and voila, the embodiment of femininity and athleticism.
